Since the inception of Google's adsense there has been many other options that have come either begun or gained greater attention. The most recent being YPN, Yahoo's answer to adsense, and MSN's newest program. However, these are still 2 mainstream search engines competing & ultimately the price paid per click, not action after click, will go down. We are already seeing a Beta version of Google's Adsense based on performance, and it is looking like this may be the "wave of the future" for search engines such as these.
Then there is the debate over the lifespan of adsense &/or direction. I have read many places where some of the "experts" on the field think it is on its' way out, while others are yelling get on board at the same time. WHo knows? My suggestion, which may not mean much to you right now, is to get involved in some others. Don't place your eggs in one basket, even if you just throw up a few ads around your site/blog from other places, then you are a step ahead of most. If adsense does crash & burn, which it probably won't, but it is looking like a big change is coming, then you always want a back-up or even a couple if the new format(s) don't fit in with what you are doing or just don't perform well.
Here are a few alternatives I have found, but by no means are these the entire list. I will try to update on performance & add other programs daily, as I am trying out all these on some of my sites and/or blogs:
1. Text Link Ads: This is an older company that has a somewhat different approach to the whole process, but seems to be yeilding nice results to those that stick with it. I have heard and read many places where some are making 4-5 figures monthly with this program alone... My experience is breif, but so far it seems that what i am hearing is true about the $$ available. I am actually increasing the pages/sites that I will be marketing this on.
2: Yahoo's YPN: As said above it is still Beta & honestly I have not given it much of a try mainly due to lack of time, but also I have heard that it is basically a cheaper type of adsense program. However, my door's not closed to it at all.
Many more to come & reviews to follow. I apologize for the breifness of this post, but my little girl is here & it looks like a tornado just hit during the few minutes i was on here. I will get the rest up ASAP..
